Today it is no longer enough to talk about Data Management. We take it for granted that the simple collection and management of data can bring value and development to the Economy and Society. But it is only with Data Intelligence that data can become infodata, which is, useful information that communicates with each other and on which we can carry out analyzes and build strategies. More specifically, it is the combination of: Advanced Analytics, Image Recognition, Augmented Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, VMI and PIM.

The focal point then becomes the communication between classified and quality data. We no longer have to think of Big Data as closed boxes. The future lies in sharing data around the world. The European Commission is already moving to create a single European data space open to data from all over the world. Imagine a reality in which companies and institutions have access to an immeasurable amount of data that create value for the economy and society, in an increasingly sustainable way. In this new reality, there is a need to rethink the way we manage data. On the one hand, we must take into account the Data Intelligence, already mentioned, and on the other, Green Data.

Digital Sustainability & Green Data

In 2018, 33 zettabytes of data were produced worldwide, which is expected to reach 175 zettabytes in 2025. However, most of this data is unstructured, obsolete, incomplete, unusable. Before we can think of a sustainable development of the Economy and Society we must establish and promote Digital Sustainability. Only by starting from the cleaning and reorganization of the huge amount of accumulated data and the “intelligent” collection of new ones, can we lay the foundations to start acting in a sustainable way. Green Data is a data collection method that allows you to create information on which to base analyzes and build Green strategies. It starts from the design and management of the birth and growth phase of the data to ensure that it is transformed into information.

We are facing new frontiers of data management, where only thanks to the awareness of the importance of the information, we will be able to have a sustainable future for us and for the new generations.

DIGITAL SUSTAINABILITY: SEE DAYLIGHT THANKS TO THE DATA CULTURE

Having so much data available does not automatically mean creating “intelligence” and value. The speed with which technology is taking root in our lives has not given us the time to realize the real consequences (whether positive or negative). Through it we collect,…
